| Welcome
to New Forest Podiatry
New Forest Podiatry is a mobile podiatry/chiropody service for all
your foot health needs.
Please
browse around our website, learn more about foot care, but more
importantly, how I can help you to enjoy a pain free, healthier
and happier lifestyle.
The
ability to walk comfortably is critical to a fulfilling life. Feet
are definitely one area of the body that deserves special care.
Of all the parts of our anatomy, our feet endure the most abuse
as we walk, run and go about our daily lives.
The
average person takes about 8,000 to 10,000 steps every day. Add
that up over the course of a lifetime and it's the equivalent of
walking four times around the world!
Your
feet often endure more than your body weight with each step. When
you run, the pressure can be three or four times your weight. A
child's feet may absorb one million kilograms of pressure over the
course of a single day.
That's
why it's so important to have your podiatrist check your feet regularly,
the same way a dentist regularly checks your teeth or an optician
checking your eyes.
What is a podiatrist?
A Podiatrist (formerly known as a chiropodist) is trained
to assess, diagnose and treat abnormalities, ailments and disorders
of the feet and lower limbs. They educate their patients about the
prevention of foot problems and their foot health needs. Patients
can be of all ages from infants to elderly.
Podiatrists
treat common skin ailments such as athlete's foot, corns, cracked
heels and toenail problems. They also treat foot imbalances and
bone deformities and can recognize the initial symptoms of serious
diseases such as arthritis, diabetes and circulatory disorders,
which often appear first in the feet.
What
are my treatments?
Treatments
offered include basic nail care, routine chiropody, biomechanical
assessment with gait analysis and nail surgery. Please see the treatment
page for more details.
If
you have any queries regarding treatments or any other questions
then please use the form on the enquiry page or call for a more
personal chat.
All
patients will be treated with the up most respect and dignity. Patient
confidentiality is paramount.
